Lucy's Male Cavachon

This little guy is already sold, and I'm not a bit surprised!  He is as cute as a button, has a great personality, and has some really nice markings!!

Here is Lucy, his mom, and my very first Cavalier!!  She is a love and one of my favorite dogs!

Princess is our yard dog, and she is ever so gentle with the babies.  She is getting old, and this spring, she is much stiffer than she was before winter.  I don't know how much longer we'll have her, which makes me very sad.  She is perfect in every way...gentle with the babies, not high maintenance, stays in the yard when we're gone, and goes into the woods to do her business.  A new dog will have a big hole to fill when she passes.

Hello Faith!  I can't wait to come home!

  1. Thanks for the photos and commentaries. We are looking forward to receiving Lucy's puppy ASAP!!!!! Have you gotten details on his airline transport? Hopefully, he will be able to arrive at the Albuquerque airport on June 29th. We have already named him Sebastien ( French spelling of Sebastian).

  2. Hi Faith,
I've called just one airline, Alaska, and they don't fly there. I'll call some more soon, and we can definitely aim for the 29th!

  3. United, Continental and Frontier airlines have flights with one stop between Spokane (GEG) and Albuquerque (ABQ) airports.

  4. I don't know what we can do. I called up Continental and they said that they don't fly between Spokane and Albuquerque. They told me that United did. I went on United's website and they state that they don't transport a number of small breed dogs - including King Charles Cavalier Spaniels - between June 1st and September 30th.

  5. Don't worry. We can drive to Seattle if we have to, in order to ship the puppy. It won't be the first time, but it does add $75 to the cost of shipping, simply because of the 6 hour one way drive, and need for a hotel stay. We'll definitely be able to use Continental if they go from Seattle to Albuquerque. I like using Continental very much, so we can try to pursue that idea. I'll call the airlines!

  6. I researched this further and found that Delta would be a good choice. I am mailing all their info which I received. There are potentially 2 problems: #1 Hopefully Lucy's pup is not considered a pug or snub-nosed breed. These breeds will be refused transport if the temp on any part of their journey is greater than 75 degrees F.#2 If the temp in Albuquerque is 85
degrees or higher, they won't fly the pup no matter what the breed.

  7. Go over the info I sent you in the mail today. The acceptable flying temp. will probably be a problem. Perhaps, it would be best if I booked a roundtrip flight to Spokane for myself, with Lucy's pup accompaning me on the return flight. The schedule for the return flights are as I sent you. I could bring a little carrier I have which will go under the seat in front of me on the plane. I would need you to bring him to the airport and meet me so I could check me and him in for the return flight.

  8. Faith,
I don't see an email from you today in my inbox, or my junk mail. Could you send it again? silverpawkennels@wildblue.net?

Did you try calling Continental? Sometimes they don't have weather restrictions. I forgot about it being so hot in your area, because it has been so COLD here.

I am happy to meet you in Spokane. I have done that for several people who have opted to fly up here and bring the puppy back with them on the airplane. I apologize for not looking into this sooner. I wasn't even thinking about summertime and the heat.

  9. I went to the post office yesterday afternoon and mailed you all the info about Delta cargo which I was referring to. I did not send an email with this info. Sorry for the confusion! I think it is probably best if I fly to Spokane, pick up Sebastian from you at the airport and catch a return flight home. Delta has one flight leaving Albuquerque at 6am on June 29, getting into Spokane at 9:28am. This is hard for me since I live 1 and 1/2 hours away from the ABQ airport. There is another Delta flight leaving ABQ at 8:30am. However, this flight is scheduled to arrive in Spokane at 12:14pm. The return flight from Spokane with Sebastien(the puppy) is at 1:05. This means there is only 56 minutes between arrival at GEG and return from GEG. The Delta rep spoke to her supervisor and he thinks this timing is too close. He suggested that I have you pay the $125 for Sebastian when you get to the airport with him so I could just retrieve him from you and run back thru security but I still may not have time to make the connection. I can't decide what to do!

  10. I have everything almost completely arranged. I am just waiting for you to tell me whether this schedule will work for you. Then, I can book the flights and the hotel. Here are the details:

11:15am Delta flight from Albuquerque(ABQ) airport.
    3:53pm arrive GEG (Spokane airport)

There is a 2hr.23 minute layover between flights in Salt Lake City. I could take a 12:45pm Delta flight from ABQ which would catch the same connecting flight and arrive
at GEG at the same time. I am just concerned that the time between connecting flights is only 47 minutes and I don't want to chance missing the second flight. Do you think, in view of these concerns, catching the earlier flight at ABQ is wise?

I can book a room at Super 8 Spokane Airport West to stay over night on June 29th.

On the 30th,the return Delta flights leave GEG at 1:05pm, arrive Salt Lake City at 3:42pm, leave Salt Lake City at 5:15pm( 1 hour and 33 minutes layover) and arrive at ABQ at 7pm.

Will this schedule work for you? You would bring Sebastien to the airport on the 30th. I have a carrying case which I can bring on the plane with me. It will be the 1 piece of carry-on luggage I think I am allowed.

  11. Spokane is a very small airport. I think it's tight but do-able. Let's talk details over the phone.

  12. I've just tried calling you but your phone memory is full. I don't think you responded to the comment I posted just before the comment you entered above.

I want know if the times above are OK with you. You would be bringing Sebastian to the airport on the morning of June 30th - in plenty of time for me to buy his ticket, etc. Since I will be staying in Spokane over night at Super 8 on June 29th, I don't have any problem with the size of the Spokane airport. The only question which I meant to ask you is: "do you think I am being too cautious by not booking the 12:45pm Delta flight from ABQ to Salt Lake City which has only 47 minutes between the connecting Delta flight from Salt lake City to GEG." The size of the Salt Lake City airport would be of some concern.

I want to get all of these arrangements set in stone ASAP since flights have a very limited # of dogs they allow on the plane at the same time.

Hopefully I will be able to reach you by phone and I will be able to make all of the reservations for airplanes and hotel today.

  13. I will be at the airport whenever you need me there, so I am flexible on the dates. I think you can make the connection, even though it's tight, and that would save you some money on hotel costs. I don't see why you can't get off the plane, then go straight to the desk and check the puppy. Are you planning to have the puppy travel with yhou in the cabin, or check the puppy into cargo? If you check him under, I should be able to do that, even before your plane lands, and then you just have to turn around and get back on the plane. But even if the puppy flew under the seat with you, I think we can definitely make the connection. If for any reason, your flight arrived late, I can just tell the people at the desk what our plans are, and I'm sure they'd wait, knowing you were in the building. I would do the same day flights because I don't think the connection with be an issue, but I can be there on the 29th or 30th, whatever you decide. Kristy

  15. Hi Faith,
Yes, I can print it out from here! I can be in Spokane on the 30th and meet you at the motel if you'd like. I'll take the pup to the vet for his Health Certificate, and you'll need to be sure you have a travel crate that will fit under the airplane seat. It usually costs $100 for the animal in the cabin. I'll give you a call as we get closer to the date. Kristy

  16. I've already checked out everything with Delta. The fare for "Namu"(new name for Lucy's male pup instead of "Sebastien")is now $125. My soft Sherpa carrier with wheels meets their size requirements. I think it would be better if you and Namu met me at the Delta airport ticket counters at 11am where I will buy his ticket. The Super 8 has a shuttle leaving for the airport at 10:30 and it takes 10 or 15 minutes to get there. I want to make everything as comfortable as I can for him and I am concerned about how I can clean up his pee and poop along the way. We won't reach ABQ until 7pm.

I will purchase water once we get past security and I have a folding soft plastic bowl for him to drink out of. Please bring some food that he will be able to eat. I know that people are not suppose to take their pets out of the carriers while waiting for connecting flights but I will do this so I can clean him up, and let him eat and drink while in Salt Lake City airport.
Please tell me what kind of food we should have stocked for him once he gets to my home in Santa Fe. He probably will still be so young that he can only eat soft food.

    Faith

  17. I don't think you have cashed my Bank of America deposit check #1280 dated 5/10/11 in the amount of $200. Please cash it ASAP because I want to close this account.

  18. Hi Faith,
Let's continue our conversation on email, rather than out in public. Send me a quick note and I'll respond regarding the check and getting it deposited.
